Dcode and Ncode Literacy Series: Success and Feedback

Dcode and Ncode Literacy Series: Success and Feedback

We are delighted to report that our recent webinar series, delivered by Mary through the Tralee Education Centre, was a resounding success. This series was held in conjunction with the Tralee, Navan and Clare Education Centres on the 10th and 24th of March 2026.

The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive once again. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Éadaoin, Martin, and Terry, along with their respective staffs at the Education Centres, for their support and collaboration. A special thank you also goes to Shauna, who expertly moderated the sessions across both evenings.

Programme Scope and Sequence

The series provided an in-depth look at the structural progression of our literacy programmes, clearly defining the transition from reading to writing.

Evening 1: The Dcode Series (Decoding/ Reading) The first evening focused on the foundational stages of the Dcode Programme, a series specifically designed to develop decoding and reading skills. We explored the sequence of Books 1 through 4, covering:

  • CVC Short Vowels: Building the initial foundations of phonics-based reading.

  • Blends: Moving into more complex consonant structures.

  • Long Vowels and Syllable Division: Developing the strategies necessary for multi-syllabic word recognition and reading fluency.

Evening 2: The Ncode Series (Encoding/ Spelling) The second evening shifted focus to the Ncode Programme. Unlike the reading focus of the previous session, this night concentrated on encoding, i.e. spelling, and writing. Ncode provides the essential framework for students to translate sounds into written language, ensuring that their spelling and writing abilities keep pace with their reading progress.
